In between fall storms, the Lithia Artisans Market is open for busisiness this weekend with more artisans signed up for the two days than anytime since early summer. 38 artisans are showing over the two day span of the weeekend market. That is remarkable! The temperatures are predicted to be in the low to mid 70’s. No rain… say it again, No Rain!!! Great lineup of music and artisans. Music by the Brothers Reed, Aliana DeVictoria, and Jared Masters. Some of my favorites. Hats from the Hat People, wool mittens, felted art, upcycled clothing, hand cut stone beads, silver smith jewelry by Dan Clark, wood work by Larry Shinerock, cutting boards in all shapes and sizes, and so much more. A great assortment of high quality art and craft to tempt the outdoor market patron, right before the holidays are upon us.
This weeks featured artisan is Barbara Schoonover. Relatively new to the market, Barbara has been showing along Calle Guanajuato for three years. She has her own take on the art of felting. Using old fabrics originally inherited from her mother, she creates amazing wearable art to enrich any wardrobe. I remember the first time I met Barbara, she was passing me samples of her work to be shown to our jury committee. I was immediately taken by the quality and uniqueness of her pieces. She is a natural when it comes to textures and color combinations. Her booth is often abuzz with folks trying on her scarves. Come by and be part of the buzz and receive a 10% Discount this weekend in her booth as she is the artisan of the week!
