We are 44 artisans strong  this upcoming weekend, August 6 and 7 at the Lithia Artisans Market. This is our fullest market since the first weekend of July. Lots of seasoned artisans have been out on the road, we welcome them back. This weekend you will discover all sorts of locally crafted art along Ashland Creek on Calle Guanjuato. Finely finished woodwork, henna body art, copper sculpture, jewelry of all kinds, hand-cut stones, metal smithing, and more. Mobiles made of drift wood and agate, dream-catchers that conjure up native lore and wisdom. Clothing will also be displayed including hemp and tencel fibers, sun dresses, tie-die and silk screened t-shirts, spun wool, hand painted silk, and much, much more. A really great weekend to come down and say hello.

The photo above features Jan Rice. Jan is a sign painter with unique talents. She makes colorful signs and magnets with inspirational words and quotes. Everything in her booth is meticulously created one letter at a time. She has been a member of our market for well over a decade, making her a veteran of the market. Her booth is often found up in the area near Mix Sweet-Shop on the corner of Calle Guanajuato and North Main Street. She is a wonderful person, a gifted artisan, and we at the market are very happy she is part of our family. Join us this weekend and support locally crafted goodness made right here in our community.

Hi everyone here. I tagged you to this message because a lot of you are artist or very involved in the art scene in one way or the other. I’m looking for artist to participate in our next fundraiser for the mural society. The money raised at this event will pay for the next mural going up this year. Below is a picture of the mural society ladies. They work so hard all year selling cookies and having garage sales to raise money for all those beautiful murals that have been beautifying our town. A mural cost anywhere between 8K-15K. That’s a lot of cookies and garage sales. Most of these ladies are elderly. They could really use some help from the community. I think we can help them out by having an art related fundraiser. The concept is a street Artshow/Artwalk. Depot street will be closed to traffic for the day for this event. There will be sidewalk art and artist displaying their art. Who doesn’t love to look at art? There will be live music as well. If we can pull it together we will be doing a brews, blues, and BBQ in conjunction with the art show. The city will not charge a vender fee if each participating artist donates a piece of art to the auction that will benefit the mural society. We will have raffles as well. This will all be out on Depot street only. We are asking the garden supply shop to donate their alley/parking spot if we have overflow. They are always good about supporting our community events. I’m reaching out to you all. If you or you know someone who wants to participate please let me know ASAP. I’m hoping for all of Depot street to be full of beautiful and interesting art. I will also be their painting faces for the kiddos.
