Happy 4th of July! A time to celebrate our independence and the freedoms we hold dear. Ashland is the place to be on the 4th. An old fashioned parade celebrating our freedom of expression, then a craft fair along Ashland Creek to celebrate our independence. The craftsperson epitomizes the idea of independence. Self-sustaining, self-managed, independent business men and women who make cool stuff with their own two hands then bring it to sell at the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA), the oldest artisans market in southern Oregon. Time honored crafts like pottery, silver smithing, stone carving, wood working, painting, sketching, dress making, and so much more are available at Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland.
Over 30 artisans will be participating over the course of this two day market event on Calle Guanajuato. In fact, in honor of our sister city of Guanajuato, Mexico, we will be hosting a wonderful artist from that city at our market. Laura Rangel Villasenor was born in Silao, a city right outside of Guanajuato. She now calls Guanajuato her home… a place of magic and inspiration for her whimsical, playful paintings to come into existence. She is a self taught artist with her own unique style. I love her art! We at the artisans market are honored to have her in our midst for the 4th of July. Every piece is an original, and they are really affordable. Welcome Laura to her home away from home! To see more images, go to her website, or stop by the market this Saturday. Here is the link… www.loreta.com.
