Anna Bloomquist is the featured artisan this weekend at the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland.
Independence Day Weekend is affording the Lithia Artisans Market a three day weekend. Yahoo!!! Over 40 artisans are signed up to participate throughout the 4th of July weekend. The City of Ashland will be maxed out with people wandering from the parade, up into Lithia Park, and down the Calle Guanajuato to peruse the amazing array of handcrafted wares on display this weekend. This is one of the funnest days of the year at the Lithia Artisans Market. We have all kinds of fine art and craft on display, as well as a fine lineup of music Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On the 4th of July we are blessed to have Gene Burnett playing our opening set of music from 12-2, followed by Jeff Stanley playing a set from 3-5. Totally stoked!!! Great way to celebrate Independence Day in Ashland, Oregon.
The featured artisan of the week is Anna Bloomquist. Anna continues to show regularly even though she is many months along in her pregnancy. Anna is an upcycler. By definition she takes old items, otherwise discardable, and repurposes them as art. In her case she is reusing old lp record albums and covers. She assures her customers that no useable records were injured in her process. She makes bowls, clocks, and guitar picks out of old worn out and scratched lps. She also uses the album covers to create one of a kind journals. I own one of her journals and I love it. I also have used the guitar picks and they work well. Anna is a clever gal, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Come by and say hello this coming Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6 when you can take 10% off anything in Anna’s booth.
The music schedule for the weekend is outstanding. Native Ashlander Matt Taylor returns to Ashland for a two hour gig at Lithia Artisans Market Saturday morning, July 5. The Brothers Reed bring their harmonies and original tunes to the stage that same afternoon. Sunday we welcome back the acoustic fusion of Martin Ball; then, that afternoon the youth of Ashland take to the stage as Chapter II brings their music to the Lithia Artisan Market. It is going to be a great weekend down by the creek on Calle Guanajuato. Happy 4th of July Weekend! Peace.
Reed Brothers, Aaron and Phil take to the stage this coming Saturday, July 5 from 3-5. Great harmonies between these two, and equally excellent songwriting.
