Hat People, Jim and Carol Young, Lithia Artisans Market Ashland Oregon

The Hat People, Jim and Carol Young, Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland, Oregon (LAMA).

38 artisans are signed up to participate this upcoming weekend at the Lithia Artisans Market. The forecast is HOT, but the artist community will be out in force despite the heat. It’s always a few degrees cooler in Lithia Park, a great time to visit the artisans market along Ashland Creek, behind the plaza in downtown Ashland, Oregon.

This week you will discover: jewelry, dichroic glass, lamp worked glass, sterling silver settings, and hand carved stones; handcrafted clothing, hemp, tencel fiber, spun wool, and more; hats by the Hat People of Talent, Oregon; painted silk shawls by Marcella and Susan; plus, dream-catchers and mobiles made from drift-wood and pebbles. So many treasures on Calle Guanajuato.

Wildlife photographer Dan Elster is with us this weekend, as well as silver smith and lapidary artist Dan Clark. The two Dan’s are both from the wonderful city of Chicago, Illinois. Super cool serendipity. They are both gifted in their respective craft. Both of our famous Dan’s will be showing their wares this weekend at the market. Welcome back home Dan Clark.

Ashland Hill Climb is this weekend with a start time of 7:30am this Saturday morning, August 13th. So, for the beginning of our day we will be sharing the area around the Winburn Street bridge with the racers. Artisan Note: Please be courteous to the racers if you show up early to set up. For more about the climb follow this link… Ashland Hill Climb.com.  This 13.3 mile event begins at Lithia Park (el 1900′) and climbs on tree-canopied dirt roads and trails to finish on the Mt. Ashland summit (7533′), for a total of more than 5,600′ of climbing–that’s over a vertical mile!  This event is a fundraiser for the Ashland Woodlands and Trails Association (AWTA). All proceeds from the race go to AWTA. This group is currently working on the trails in the Ashland watershed.

We are blessed with great music at the market. This weekend I want to give a special shout out to The Brothers Reed. These two brothers consistently bring their A game to our open air marketplace. They are a class act and they make amazing music. With two great CD’s already to their credit, a third album is in the works. They often play their new stuff down at the Lithia Artisans Market to test the songs before they go into the studio. You get a chance to hear fresh new material as it is coming through the musicians. Pretty cool I think. They play this coming weekend, Sunday August 14 from 11:00am-1:00pm. The rest of the music schedule is as follows.
