Big thanks goes out to the firefighters who have done a remarkable job at getting these fires out and protecting our valley. We can all breath better, literally. Today the skies are clear and you can feel that summer is winding down. Kids are getting ready for school, tomatoes are ripening on the vine and the market continues full swing into Fall. The market is as strong as ever with roughly 30 artisans showing this coming weekend. Jewelry, woodwork, clothing, leather, hats, and much more.
Our featured artisan this week is Lucy Defranco. Lucy calls her business “Luce Knots”, and she is a weaver by trade. Many of our artisans work while they show at the market, but Lucy is sort of unique in that respect. She brings her spinning wheel to the market and spins wool while she sells. Her booth is a constant hub of folks curious about her method. Watching her work the wheel along Calle Guanajuato takes you back to a simpler time when life was so much more hands on. Lucy spins her wool into yarn, dyes her yarn, and then weaves it into intricately designed scarves, table clothes, and more. You can also purchase her hand dyed yarns to create your own art. This week everything in her booth is 10% OFF! Come on down and meet Lucy, this is her first year as a member of the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland.
