William Garrett, better known as “Buck”, shows his art and cut stones on Calle Guanajuato. Sometimes what needs to come out is pure psychedelia. Buck shows every weekend with his partner Lynn.
This weekend we are not featuring one artisan, we are featuring all of you. This week we honor the artist in each of us. We don’t do that enough, just spending time with your own artistic vision of the world, or the world beyond this one. Our hurried lives often leave us with no “free-time” to do the things we love to do, create. Whether it’s sculpting a garden space, carving a piece of wood, filing the rough edges of a silver braided ring, or sanding away the imperfections in a stone, it is all a way of seeing life as its own form of art. Living life as if it was a piece of art. You can always add more oil to the painting and thus give the piece more texture. That is what we are doing as we walk our walk and journey through this life we have been gifted. What an honor to just be here now doing what we do. If you love what you do then give thanks for that simple truth. What a blessing.
So full of gratitude this week. The air is clearer, the hard working fire fighters are in our thoughts and prayers. As I look out at the big world picture I am ever so amazed to be here in Southern Oregon and living the dream. Each weekend we bring our particular talents to Calle Guanajuato down along Ashland Creek. Here our community comes together to show our wares, to make our livelihood, to honor the artisan in each of us.
35 Artisans will be showing this coming weekend. Woodwork, jewelry, fine art, wildlife images, clothing, hats, woven scarves, and so much more to inspire and entice the patron of southern Oregon’s longest running outdoor artisans market… Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland. Open Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-5.
Jared Masters returns for the first time in awhile to the Lithia Artisans Stage, Sunday, August 10 from 3-5. Soulful grooves that take you away to a sunset on your favorite warm beach.
