It is our biggest showing since our reopening during the pandemic. 21 artisans are signed up to participate this upcoming weekend. The Summer Celebration throughout Downtown Ashland is celebrating Mother Earth is weekend. This is a time to give thanks for the miracle of life and the abundance we all share in our corner of the universe. This week we highlight earth friendly products.

Marcus Scott of The Stone Bead uses beach-combed agates, jaspers, and jades to create handout stone beads, pendants, and earrings. Roughly 50% of his material is found, and the rest is locally sourced from eastern and central Oregon. Locally sourced means minimal impact. “I have the highest respect toward Mother Earth. I only take what I need and never waste material.”

Larry Shinerock of Creative Woodwork has been doing art and craft shows since he was a teenager. His unique form of woodworking highlights the natural beauty in the wood. He collects dead standing manzanita and other local woods and crafts them into cribbage boards, light switch plates, bowls, lamps, and much more. To stay sane through the stay at home order he stayed busy in his outdoor woodworking shop. Never missed a beat. His booth shows the result of his creative down time.

Hours: Saturdays and Sundays 10am-3pm

It looks like a beautiful weekend to spend some time in Downtown Ashland. The market now stretching throughout Calle Guanajuato and into lower Lithia Park to make more room for social distancing. We have one instrumental music act per day as we continue to ease back into a new form of normal, for the moment. Mask up people, and remember to respect the six feet of distance. Distance is kind, six feet is love.

Support handmade local art, craft, and music.
