2012 is coming in like a lion roaring for change. Whether you like it or not, change is upon us. Nowhere is this more evident than at the Lithia Artisans Market.
Just this last week, at the monthly board meeting, Maria DiMagio read out loud an emotional letter resigning as the market manager. Maria has been the manager of the market for the last 7 years. She has done her job with the grace of a wise woman. I don’t know a single member of our community of artisans who thinks poorly of Maria. She is universally loved and respected by all. She will be missed by everyone who was touched by her presence. I will miss her tough love and ability to settle disputes with ease and understanding. She is honestly concerned for the well being of every member of our market and has performed her duties beyond measure.

Roughly one month ago I, Marcus Scott, resigned from the board of directors. I have served the board to the best of my abilities for about 16 years. At the time I had no idea of Maria’s intention to resign. I knew the best way to serve my community was in a capacity outside of the decision making service of the board. I have felt honored to serve you for the last decade and a half.
When Maria resigned from her position, I threw my hat into the ring. I feel as though I have been training for this position for a long time. I know the job will not be an easy one, and that I have some mighty big shoes to fill. However, I feel confident that I can help to bring LAMA into the 2012 season and beyond. I am ready to serve as your new manager and look forward to seeing your smiling faces and beautiful creations when we open our season on April 14.
Maria, your bright light has shined on us for years, and we are forever grateful for your service, integrity, and wisdom. I, for one, am honored to call you my friend and mentor. I will try my best to be as good a manager as you. Good luck to you in your new endeavors, and don’t forget to visit often.
