It is not official, but you can feel Fall creeping upon us. It is the second weekend of September, kids are back in school, and it has been a blessed season at Lithia Artisans Market. Dozens of new vendors, amazing live music, and everybody taking their art-form to inspiring levels of professionalism. This group of talented folks is like my extended family.
One of our artists is brand new to marketing. LaRayne Michaels is a photographer who has been passionate about her medium for years but never got it out there in the public eye. This is her inaugural season as an artisan. Rayne called me excited because she just did her first “big show” last weekend and had the best response of the year. Her energy was palpable in her voice while we talked on the phone. She wanted to make sure I was able to give her a slightly bigger space this coming weekend as she has a lot of new production to share with the world. Come on by and see what Rayne has to offer and peruse the other 30 plus artisan booths set up along Ashland Creek.

Our market is both an incubator for emerging artisans and a home-base for veteran marketers. Many within our family branch out from our local artisans market to bigger shows outside of Ashland. I am so pleased when one of us is accepted into Oregon Country Faire, or the Salem Art Fair, or Whole Earth Festival in Davis, California (just to mention a few). I revel in our individual artists success beyond our local venue. They, in turn, bring new energy and new creativity back into the market. When we stretch out our wings and fly, who knows what journeys await. That is what makes life so exciting.
Two brand new musicians will take to the stage this coming weekend at the Lithia Artisans Market. Country singer-songwriter Beka McAlvage makes her debut Saturday, September 7th in the afternoon slot from 3-5pm. Eclectic songwriter Chris Sheppardson stops by the market for his first visit in the morning slot from 11:30-1:30 this coming Sunday, September 8th. See full schedule below.
Pleased to announce Kites and Crows will be opening our weekend market, Saturday, September 7th from 11:30-1:30. One of my favorite ensembles of original tunes in Ashland. Shown here surrounded by the beautiful quilts of our local artisan Kris Daly.
