The market is rollin’ right into the fall season at full capacity once again. 40 artisans are signed up to show. We are experiencing a true Indian Summer in southern Oregon with highs in the low 80’s for the weekend. Jewelry, woodwork, clothing, hats, fine art, photography, and so much more will be on display.
Featured here is Karina Mendoza-Wittke of Alma Mia Jewelry. She has been a member of the market for over 20 years. She grew up traveling often between Germany and Mexico. As a young girl she would travel throughout Europe with her mom and sister. Living out of a Volkswagen Bug and camping with the gypsies, she learned to juggle and make jewelry. She has fond memories of selling necklaces to tourists on the beach when she was just 10 years old. Her childhood passion never left. Today she is one of the most prolific and fine tuned artisans at the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA). Karina makes impeccably crafted sterling silver wire work jewelry. Her color combinations and finishing touches set her pieces apart from other jewelry makers. We are happy she is part of our family of artists on Calle Guanajuato.

We are excited to watch the Southern Oregon Gay Pride Parade as it marches by the market. It is always such a colorful expression of love and creativity. This is a time of healing, of understanding, of respect. We all love each other. The parade starts at 11am, makes its way down Main Street in Ashland, and then goes right by the market and up into Lithia Park. More festivities are planned throughout the day at the Bandshell in the park. It should be a great weekend for community events and people watching.
