What a week of weather… lightning, thunder, minor flooding, huge hail pounded my garden, but the air was cleansed and the earth drank up the much needed water. The summer is rolling along and the Lithia Artisans Market is full to capacity on Saturday, with a solid showing on Sunday as well. Amazing lineup of music this weekend, see the schedule below. Some old familiar faces will be back at the market for the first time in a long while. Bill Francis Pottery will be selling his earthen wares for the first time this season. Welcome back brother. Jack West will be bringing his amazing wood furniture back to the Calle Guanajuato, as well as 33 other local artisans displaying art, jewelry, metal, clothing, hats and so much more. The featured artisan of the week is Lynn Powell of Greensprings Silver and Gems.
Lynn and her partner William Garrett (better known as “Buck”) have been showing their jewelry along Ashland Creek for a long time now. The thing about their jewelry that makes them unique is the fact that they do the work together. They make it a point to turn their winter vacation time into a treasure hunting adventure. Desert rock-hounds at heart, Buck and Lynn are truly in their element with a rock hammer in their hands working a seam of turquoise in some deserted mine in the middle of nowhere… way out in Arizona or some darned place. Buck cuts the stones and Lynn sets them into wonderful pieces of jewelry. Makes for some beautiful stone jewelry. Come by and see their display this weekend as they are the featured artisan of the week. Receive a 10% discount off of anything in their booth!
