The Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland opens on March 19th and runs every weekend, Saturdays 10-6 and Sundays 11-5, from mid-March thru October. This year the market celebrates its’ 33rd season in Ashland. We are located on Calle Guanajuato, behind the downtown plaza, along Ashland Creek in lower Lithia Park. The market is the hub of the downtown art scene. Great things radiate out from the hub. This unique outdoor market features art and fine craft from some of our regions hardest working, creative souls. The artisans have been busy in the off-season creating new art, objects of adornment, and practical handcrafted wares. They are eager to array their art-forms along the picturesque cobbled walkway known as Calle Guanajuato.
Early season is a great time to meet the artists. Fresh off of a two and a half month respite from weekly markets, the artisans have been holed up in their workshops working their fingers to the bone and prototyping new concepts. Ideas that were stowed away in the back of your mind come to the forefront and you are gifted with time to turn those mental visions into reality. Winter is a wonderful time to ruminate and manifest. I know for myself as a lapidary artisan (stone bead maker), new ways of seeing the stones helps me cut better, faster, and with less energy. Learning the tricks of the trade doesn’t happen over night. Mastering a craft takes years of constant work and patience. Many of the artisans at the Lithia Artisans Market are masters of their craft.

We hold jury committee meetings every other Thursday evening from 5-7pm in the Guanajuato Room at the Ashland Public Library. Meetings start on March 17.
