Stone masons hand paving the newly refurbished Calle Guanajuato, home of Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland, Oregon.

Thank you all for your patience. The space where we hold our weekend market, our home on Calle Guanajuato has been under construction since October 2013. The repaving of this little alley way has been an enormous undertaking. Four different utilities, water, sewer, electricity, and gas all working under the direction of KOGAP. Although the City had hoped to be finished with the construction by April 1, the storm of December and the extreme cold of January hampered progress. The project is one month behind schedule but it is looking beautiful.
I walked the Calle with two staff members from Parks and Recreation last week. The photo above was taken on that walk. We talked about opening day for the market and the restaurants along Calle Guanajuato. I was assured that the plan is for the Calle to open the first weekend in May. Today I received an email saying the same thing.
The repaving of Calle Guanajuato  has been a major work project, but the end result is going to be a space that functions better and looks great. Our beloved market space along Ashland Creek just got a brand new floor.
If you are a Lithia Artisan Market member wanting to participate in the opening weekend, please remember to phone in next Tuesday, April 29 to reserve space for the weekend of May 3 and 4. The phone-in number for the market is 1-888-303-2826.
Look for more on the opening weekend coming next week. Unless something unexpected happens we will be open May 3 and 4, the first weekend in May. Welcome back artisans! Your newly refurbished home awaits your presence.
