Scott Carlson is a blown-glass master artisan and a regular at the Lithia Artisans Market. Here he is working the torch in his studio.

Thirty local artisans will be showing their wares this upcoming weekend, March 30 and 31, at the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland. We are pleased with such great turnout this early in the 2019 season. The weather looks promising with forecast temperatures in the mid 60’s. A beautiful weekend to come out and see what the artisans have been creating in the off-season.

OPEN WEEKENDS / SATURDAY 10-6 AND SUNDAY 11-5.

I was fortunate to visit the blown glass workshop of Scott Carlson during the winter months. Scott’s shop is just down the driveway from his home in the foothills of the Siskiyou mountains in Phoenix, Oregon. I spent three hours mesmerized as I watched him work his craft. What I witnessed was pure alchemy in fluid motion, no movement wasted. Glass transforming from liquid to solid and all points in between. In the time I spent with him he created three unique items. So cool!

Scott will be showing his art glass pieces this weekend at the artisans market. You will also discover all kinds of fine crafted items in booths along Ashland Creek — custom women’s clothing, mixed metal jewelry, fine art, leather, woodwork, photography, hand cut stones, woven items, and much more. Located on Calle Guanajuato in the heart of downtown Ashland. The market is open every weekend from now until the end of October.

Caitlin Jemma joins us along her west coast tour. This Sunday from 12-2. Soulful, original, down home country music.
