Mabrie Ormes is a fine artist and regular at the Lithia Artisans Market Ashland, Oregon (LAMA).

We are 30 artisans strong this upcoming weekend. As you stroll through Calle Guanajuato along Ashland Creek you will encounter artisan run booths filled with handcrafted leather, woodwork, jewelry, clothing, photography, fine art, pottery, body care products, hats, folk art, drums, and much more.

Featured in the photo above is fine artist Mabrie Ormes. Mabrie is a long time member of our market and continues to blaze new trails in her lifelong passion for art. She plays with a wide range of techniques and is prolific in her embrace of whatever art-form she chooses at the moment. Her images are textural, deep, colorful, playful, and affordable. Magic comes to life every weekend at the Lithia Artisans Market and Mabrie is a big part of that magic.

We are getting all kinds of weather here in southern Oregon. A tornado watch was in effect yesterday in the Prospect, Eagle Point area. Wow! We are doing our best to dodge the raindrops and continue to show our wares at the market.

It is the first weekend in May. In celebration of the original meaning of May Day, we honor the tough work and commitment it took for our labor movement predecessors to establish a more level playing field. It seems we have drifted far afield of this lately, and it is ever important to be vigilant in protecting our rights.

This country is founded on the idea of equality and freedom for all. Independent artisan businesses epitomize self empowerment through micro-industry ownership. This is a relatively new way of thinking in the advancement of labor — self reliance through artisan entrepreneurship.

Supporting local, independent art, craft, and music. Those are the goals of the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA). Join us!
