Mt. Ashland Hillclimb starts where the Lithia Artisans Market starts. The Mt. Bike leg of the race will pass this view of Pilot Rock.
For a brief half hour the Lithia Artisans Market artisans and the bike racers participating in the Mt. Ashland Hill Climb will share space on the corner of Calle Guanajuato and Winburn Way. We artisans are fortunate to witness the start of this 31st Annual event. From 8:45 till about 9:15 am on Sunday, September 16, we will not be able to access the top of the market so make plans accordingly. Either get there much earlier for load-in, or get there after 9:15am. If you find yourself there in the crunch time, you will wait behind a barricade in the plaza.
For fun I did this ride last Tuesday. The ride is beautiful. I did the mountain bike route which climbs 5400 feet in 18 miles through the watershed of Mt. Ashland. My hat is off to the folks racing this weekend. Have fun and then come by and visit the market after you bomb back down the mountain. The Lithia Artisans Art Walk along Ashland Creek is a great place to eat and check out all the locally made art and craft.
The market is full and the weather looks great. The artist of the month is out in news-stands in the September edition of Locals Guide. Ali Kalemkeris is the featured artist. Her products have been chosen to be in the gift baskets at this years Emmy awards. Ali and her husband Dimitri show on Saturdays at Lithia Artisans Market. Her soaps and body products are outstanding. I know because I use them. Good for you, good for the Earth, good for our local economy. Family run businesses are the purest form of free market.
The music is outstanding this weekend. Delonde Bell plays for the first time as a solo player. He has played the market in the past as part of the band Penguins on the Rock. I really like Delonde’s original tunes and look forward to his set Saturday afternoon from 3-5pm. Phoenix Sigalove brings his soulful music back to the market Sunday afternoon from 3-5pm.

Phoenix Sigalove brings his great talent as a singer-songwriter to Lithia Artisans Market this Sunday, Sept. 16 from 3-5pm. Totally psyched for this set.
