Jess Volk is a ceramic artist and a regular this year at the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA).
The market is scheduled to be open both Saturday and Sunday if the weather permits. We are a bit smaller this weekend as the weather forecast has people pondering their options. 27 hearty artisans are signed up to participate. The air is fresh and clean and the trees in Lithia Park are putting on a show. It is a great time to come out and see what the local artists have to offer. The holiday gift giving season is right around the corner. Join us this weekend and think sunny thoughts.

The featured artist above is a newbie this year at the market. Jess Volk is a local through and through. She went to Phoenix High and then graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics and Painting. Now she runs her own ceramics studio located here in Ashland. Slip Studios is where Jess spends her creative time, making one of a kind planters, mugs, plates, and other useful items. Her concepts are minimalist and mindful. I find her pieces tranquil and deep. Sometimes a portal will open in one of her pieces and I swear I am staring into another dimension. You gotta see her pieces in person.
Mattie Morton is a wonderful clothing designer at the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashalnd (LAMA).
Slip Studios is having an opening tonight, Friday, October 20, as a collective. The show is called Slip Studio And CO. Sale and takes place at 3195 East Main St. #1 this Friday evening from 5-8pm.The show features local artisans and includes another member of our market, Mattie Morton. Mattie dyes clothing with natural pigments and designs her line of clothing from hemp fabric. Like Jess, her work is minimalist and understated. We are counting down the weekends to the end of October. Our outdoor market ends on Sunday, October 29. We then segue into winter with our biggest show of the season, the Lithia Artisans Christmas Faire at the Historic Ashland Armory. 50 artists will be showing their wares over the three day weekend. Mark your calendars for Thansgiving Weekend, November 24-26. I’m excited for this years show. Stay tuned for more information.
Holiday Market at the Briscoe ArtWing will take place every weekend in December leading up to Christmas at the old Briscoe School on North Main in Ashland. Saturdays 10-6 and Sundays 11-5.
