The market is again at capacity with 45 artists and fine craftspeople signed up to show this weekend along Ashland Creek on Calle Guanajuato in downtown Ashland, Oregon. The weather forecast is perfect as summer gives way to fall. We are blessed with abundance and community gatherings this time of year. You will find an art festival ambiance every weekend at the Lithia Artisans Market.
This weekend we are well represented in many of our art and craft categories. You will discover all sorts of jewelry… dichroic glass, hand carved and polished gemstones, sterling silver settings, antique trade beads fashioned into new ornaments, lamp-worked glass, and more. Comfortable clothing made with hemp and tencel fibers, woodwork, leather work, fine art, photography, pottery, wooden toys, cutting boards, carved wood spoons, hats by the Hat People, and much more will fill the space along the meandering alley-way behind the plaza in Ashland.
This weeks photo features a veteran and a newbie (see above). On the left is Barbara Schoonover. She makes exquisite shawls, up-cycling old material and using felting techniques to form textures and images in her own unique and beautiful style. She has been a member of our local artisans market for about 6 years. On the right is a brand new member of the artisans guild. Mattie Morton hails from Bozeman, Montana. Her first love is herbalism, but she found that making her own clothing dyes from herbs allowed her a unique take on fashion. Healing and fashion combined. Her business is called Juniperous. See them both this upcoming weekend at the market.
