Mabrie Ormes, Fine Artist, is a regular at the Lithia Artisans Market Ashland, Oregon (LAMA).
The market is once again strong with 40 local artisans showing over the course of the upcoming weekend. The weather looks perfect as we say goodbye to summer, and welcome the approaching fall. The leaves are yellowing, shadows lengthening, the sun is lower in the horizon. Lithia Park is just starting to turn from green to yellow and orange. It’s a great time to visit the Lithia Artisans Market along Ashland Creek, behind the downtown plaza shops. The Market is open Saturdays from 10-6 and Sundays from 11-5, until the end of October.
This weekend you will find fine art, jewelry, sculpture, body care products, native American style drums, leather work, wood work, and much more. The market also offers a massage booth on Saturday, and henna body-art creations all weekend. Nothing like hands-on art-forms.
Featured in the photo above is one of our most accomplished fine artists. Mabrie Ormes has been a fine artist for her entire adult life and beyond. She dabbled for awhile in photography, as well as jewelry design. When she finally picked up a paintbrush, she never turned back. Her pieces could be described as impressionistic forms found in the garden. Her latest series is a play on words. She calls the series “The Meta-Forest”. She also creates her own paper. You owe it to yourself to stop by her booth on the weekend and see what new images await.
