Ashland’s original outdoor artisans market is located behind the plaza in downtown. This art and craft marketplace is in its 31st season along the creek on Calle Guanajuato. Open every weekend from mid-April through October, Saturday 11-6 and Sunday 10-5. This upcoming weekend the market is packed with locally made items, 32 vendors are showing over the course of two days. Clothing, jewelry, fine art, body care, soaps, weavings, and much more await the passerby. Everything at the market is handcrafted by the people who sell at the market. No middle man here, no imports, just hand crafted local goodness. Even the music is made locally… see the schedule below.
This weeks featured artist is Wildlife Photographer Dan Elster. Dan came upon the Lithia Artisans Market back in 2005 when he and his wife Patty were moving throughout the country looking for a place to settle down and raise a family. Originally from Chicago, Dan decided to try out the Lithia Artisans Market as a traveling vendor. I remember the early days of Dan showing his photography on the Calle. His booth was rudimentary compared to the professional outdoor gallery he sets up today, but his art was well received by the locals and tourists alike. His search was over, he had found his new home. Today, nearly a decade later, Dan has one of the most eye catching booths at the market. His images are unforgettable, captivating, and full of life. His ability to capture wild animals in wild settings is beyond compare. He is in a class all his own! Today Dan, his two kids, and his wife Patty proudly call Ashland their home. As a way of saying Thank You to his community, Dan is offering 20% OFF EVERYTHING in his booth this weekend. The market picks up the tab on the first 10% and Dan is gifting the community with an additional 10% off. If you have ever wanted one or more pieces from Dan Elster Photography, now is the time.
Support local art, craft, and music… it makes a huge difference in our economy and way of life.
