September 24 and 25 at Lithia Artisans Market

37 artisans are signed up to show their handcrafted wares this upcoming weekend at the Lithia Artisans Market in downtown Ashland, Oregon.

We are located behind the plaza buildings along Ashland Creek, on Calle Guanajuato in lower Lithia Park. The Lithia Artisans Market has been a part of the downtown scene since 1983.

Open Saturdays 10-6 and Sundays 11-5 until the end of October.

This weekend you will discover all kinds of handcrafted wonders. A broad style of jewelry will be on display… sterling silver bezel settings, riveted metals, copper, silver, brass, hand cut stone cabachons and beads. Also, you will find lamp-worked glass beads by Leah Fairbanks, hand pounded copper bowls by Steve McLaren, and Navajo inspired copper feathers by Lavelle Foos.

Hemp and tencel fiber clothing, sun-dresses, , painted silk, hats by the Hat People of Talent, Oregon, hand-spun fibers by Lucy DeFranco, and much more will be featured in the category of clothing. Fine art, woodwork, leather shoes by Dave Summers and belts by Gene Nawrocki, plus so much more is available for purchase at Ashland’s oldest outdoor marketplace. All handcrafted, all artisan represented.

With so much mass produced junk out there in the stream of things, it is a welcome change of pace to come across quality art and craft. The American Art and Craft Movement is alive and well in the southern Oregon Rogue Valley, and the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA) is the place to witness that movement in action.

Whenever possible, support locally crafted products. The quality is outstanding, and this sort of commerce makes a big impact on our local economy. Additionally, local artisans tend to be very conscious of their impact on Mother Earth. Doing our part… one purchase at a time.
