41 local artisans are signed up to show over the course of the upcoming weekend, May 4 and 5. Most of our veteran artisans are back to the market and they are bringing their A-game. Looking around the market lately, what I see is an all-star cast of local artists and crafty folk. The Lithia Artisans Market is the place to find unique, one-of-a-kind items made right here in the Rogue Valley.
Featured in the photo above is a leather backpack made by Dave Summers of The Leather Vine. Dave is a stalwart member of our guild of artists. His shoes, handbags, and backpacks are made to last a lifetime. I am extremely rough on my backpack, carrying large quantities of rock material out of remote areas. Seven years of hard labor later and the bag is just breaking in, which is why I can personally attest to its quality of workmanship.
Sometimes inspiration is aloof, other times it cannot be avoided. This time of the year my mind is bustling with ideas and my body is up to the task of testing those ideas in the workshop. The sun is out, the garden is thriving, and my time in the shop is focused and determined. I am working my craft with a new sense of purpose, which is why I find springtime inspirational. Does anyone else out there feel that same drive to be productive and creative?
