Market Girl w: BikeWe are open this Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4. After almost seven months of work, Calle Guanajuato is resurfaced, the area feels open and inviting. I can’t wait to step foot into the new space and set up my hand crafted wares for the first time in 2014. It feels like an honor. Writing on behalf of the Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland, I wish to publicly thank the City of Ashland Parks and Recreation, and particularly Rachel Dials whose clear communication keep us well informed about the process and time tables. The work looks beautiful and shows that much thought went into the planning and layout. We appreciate all the energy that went into this project. It has been worth the wait.

We are trying something new this season. Each week we will feature a different artisan from the market, highlighting them and their art-form. Everything in the featured artisans booth is 10% off for that weekend. The market picks up the difference here, not the artisan. It’s a win-win for customer and artisan alike.
I am excited to announce that 32 artisans are signed up to participate this weekend at the market. Jewelry, woodwork, clothing, on site massage, photography, fine art, and much more.  Everything is artfully crafted by local hands, and sold by the people who make it.
The first featured artisan of the new season is Marcus Scott  of The Stone Bead.

Marcus runs a small lapidary shop in Talent, Oregon. He specializes in stone beads and pendants made from locally collected jaspers, agates, and jade, as well as Southwest turquoise, opals, and much more. His business is appropriately named The Stone Bead.
“The byline of my website says, letting the stones speak for themselves. This sums it up for me in a lot of ways. I try not to over work the stone. I believe that ancient stone artisans really understood the perfection in a simple stone bead. After 22 years cutting stone beads, I think I am starting to get it.”
Marcus has been a member of the market for 20 years, and now doubles as the market manager.  He will be showing his wares along Ashland Creek throughout the season; however, this weekend you get 10% off of anything in his booth. Yippee!
