The Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA) is back up to 40 vendors strong this weekend. A full house of creative souls showing their art along the creek on the meandering pathway known as Calle Guanajuato. It is gonna get warm again with highs in the low 90’s… another perfect weekend in paradise. Lots of wonderful art and craft on display this weekend: sculpted wooden bowls, fused dichroic glass jewelry, felted wool flowers and scarves, smithed silver and copper jewelry, carved stone beads, upcycled clothing, wildlife photography, and so much more. Live music throughout the weekend featuring four different acts playing four two hour sets; two on Saturday and two on Sunday. The full music schedule is at the bottom of this post. Open Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-5.

Featured in the photo above is the multi-talented Marcella Ruikis. Marcella is a veteran of the Lithia Artisans Market and has played many roles while being an active member of the guild. A mother, a fabulous singer who has played live with some of the valley’s best musicians, and a wonderful artist who pours her heart and soul into every piece of silk she touches. Her painted silk scarves look beautiful on everybody. She has served on the board of directors, the jury committee, and been part of the big picture of the Lithia Artisans Market for well over a decade. Thank you for your commitment to your community, and for bringing bold, beautiful color into our world.

The music is stellar this weekend. Phoenix Sigalove is always a treat. A deep compassion for the natural world, and our connection to it, comes through loud and clear when Phoenix plays. Cole Cullen is a singer-songwriter with a gift for matching words with music. They play Saturday. Sunday we welcome Jon Emery who is coming through from Sacramento, California. Good ole’ fashioned country tunes in the line of Johnny Cash and Ryan Adams. Jon has a passion for American Roots Music. We are lucky to catch him at the market as part of a west coast tour. Sunday afternoon local songwriter Bekkah McAlvage rounds out our weekend of music and art along the creek. Here is a little video featuring Phoneix Sigalove. Enjoy!

Bekkah McAlvage brings her own original tunes to the market this Sunday, August 16 from 2:30-4:30.
