The Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA), Oregon will open the 2011 season on the weekend of April 16 and 17. The artisans of southern Oregon will come out of their three month long hibernation to greet the spring with colorful creations — hand cut stone jewelry, hand turned pottery, wildlife photography, hand stitched clothing, one of a kind, locally created art and craft of all kinds. The Lithia Artisans Market is the finest art and craft weekend market in southern Oregon, located behind the plaza in downtown Ashland, Oregon, along Ashland creek, across from Lithia park.
This is the very first post for the Lithia Artisans Blog — updates will post every week. Sign up by clicking on Email Subscription under the LAMA logo on the right side of this page.

This is the kind of beautiful weather we hope to manifest throughout the 2011 Market season. Sometimes the scene at the Market is magical.
For all the artisans reading this post, don’t forget to phone in on Tuesday, April 12 and let Maria know you want to show. I just looked at the Accuweather website and the forecast is for temperatures in the mid-60’s and sunny for our opening weekend. Keep your fingers crossed, say a little sun prayer, knock on wood, whatever you do, manifest sunshine for our opening weekend.
I look forward to seeing all of your new creations. We have a great lineup of music for the opening weekend. Please check out the schedule.

During the off season, we continued to do our series of artisan interviews. I will soon create a page devoted to the interviews, for now they are all archived under Artisan of the Month in Locals Guide (click here). As the season progresses you will see a lot of changes in what we are doing to promote the Market. Social networking and an interactive blog will be part of that strategy. An online newsletter is also in the works, so stay tuned.
My latest interview was with our beloved manager, Maria DiMagio. Maria and I talked for about an hour and I learned a lot. What appeared in Locals Guide was only about a third of the content we discussed. Look for a drag down menu, coming soon, which will have the whole interview, sound files, and video files. In the mean time, please check out the Locals Guide interview to learn more about Maria. Read here…

Calle Guanajuato without the Lithia Artisans Market. A barren photo taken in early April, 2011, right before the opening of the 2011 Market season.

This photo is taken from the same angle as above showing the same Calle Guanajuato scene with the Lithia Artisans Market in full swing. Cant wait for the 2011 Market season to be underway.
If you are curious about what will be happening at the Lithia Artisans Market this season, weekly updates, music schedules, etc. please sign up for email updates with new posts. For the first little while those updates might be often, but they will become weekly as the season progresses.
