As Summer makes its way into the Rogue Valley, new plantings are feeling the warm earth and starting to really grow. The Lithia Artisans Market family continues to grow as we have added 16 new members to our ranks this season. Native American drums by Marta Quest, forged steel by Jay Bromwell, and handwoven scarves by Lucy DeFranco, just to name a few. Many of these newcomers have already become regulars and are showing weekly. Many more are just getting their scene together as the 2014 season heads into its second month. The market is packed with great art and craft this weekend, over 40 artisans are signed up to show.
New artisan Lucy DeFranco can be found at Lithia Artisans Market spinning wool. Often set up right behind Sesame along Calle Guanajuato.

As we grow it is appropriate that we are featuring our resident landscape photographer Pat Moore. Pat has been a member of the market for over 10 years. His sense of composition, color, and texture are what set him apart from his counterparts in the world of photography. From a block away the iconic images and brilliant colors attract your attention. As you walk through Pat’s booth you are carried away to distant lands… perfect light on a path to the beach, a doorway in Guanajuato, Mexico. His photos are stunning. Come by and visit the booth of Pat Moore, across from lower Lithia Park in what has been affectionately named “The Village”, also known as the parking lot near the Winburn Way Bridge, right next to Calle Guanajuato and the rest of the Lithia Artisans Market. This weekend you can take 10% OFF anything in Pat’s booth, because he is the featured artisan.
The music lineup this weekend is outstanding. One of my favorite independent songwriters is coming through Ashland, and we are fortunate enough to have him playing this coming Saturday afternoon from 3-5. Drew Rouse is a socially conscious, environmental warrior whose music resonates deeply with soulful rhythms and thought provoking lyrics. The first time I heard Drew was at MidSummers Dream Art and Music Festival back in 2006. He played the after party on the main stage and blew us all away. Super excited to catch Drew as he makes his way to Canada on a mini west coast tour.
